Community, health and provincial leaders came together in Tulagi this week for the first Central Islands Provincial Health Summit to identify practical solutions for improving health services across Central Islands Province.
The Summit, from 14 to 18 September, was organised by the Central Islands Provincial Health Service, with support from Australia, as part of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) national rollout of the Primary Health Care Performance Initiative (PHCPI) to strengthen primary health care services in the provinces.

Over five days, participants reviewed the strengths and challenges of health services across Central Islands Province and agreed on practical actions to improve access to care. Discussions focused on locally led priorities and solutions, recognising that strong health services depend on partnerships between communities, health workers and leaders.
Minister for Health and Medical Services, Honourable Morris Toiraena, said provincial leadership is essential to improving health outcomes across Solomon Islands.
“Achieving better health outcomes requires strong partnerships, effective leadership, and community participation,” said Hon. Toiraena.

During the summit, clinics across the province also received new water tanks, tools and other essential items funded by Australia. The practical upgrades respond to priorities identified by provincial health authorities and will help improve access to water, support frontline health workers, and strengthen services for communities across Central Islands Province.

Pacific Island countries and territories used the 37th Session of the FAO Committee on Fisheries in Rome to call for stronger international support for regional fisheries systems, SPC said.
Royal Solomon Islands Police Force officers have completed border surveillance and small boats courses delivered by the Australian Defence Force under Exercise Coastwatchers, which runs from 31 August until 23 September.
A $1.5 million package of 17 boats and 18 outboard motors funded by China’s Rural Sustainable Development Program was delivered to West Makira Constituency on 4 September, the Ministry of Rural Development said.
The third and final shipment of the constituency's 2025 development fund projects, including 57 boats and 57 outboard engines, has been delivered, according to a statement on the Solomon Islands Government portal.
Search continues for two missing persons as four survivors evacuated to Honiara
The search continues for two people still missing after a boat travelling from Honiara to Malaita capsized two days ago, with four survivors now safely evacuated to Honiara for medical treatment.
Relative of those affected, Dr Jack Haikau Horiai Siwainao, confirmed in an update at 4pm today that the four survivors were flown by helicopter from Vuturua and Toa villages in South Gela to Honiara International Airport.
“We flew the four found, by helicopter, from Vuturua and Toa villages in South Gela, to Honiara International Airport,” Dr Haikau said.
He said one of the survivors was strong and up and about, while the other three had been admitted to Merci Siwainao Clinic for treatment.
The three patients are receiving intravenous fluids, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medication and analgesics.
Dr Haikau expressed his appreciation to the families, friends and members of the public who have provided prayers, support and assistance following the tragedy.
He also thanked families in Vuturua and Toa villages for caring for the survivors before their evacuation.
He acknowledged Honourable Bradley Tovosia and his team for travelling to Vuturua and Toa, which enabled him to conduct an assessment through the nurse on the ground.
Dr Haikau also thanked Pilot Paul, Johnny and the Helicopter Support team for their assistance with the search yesterday and the evacuation today.
He further acknowledged the National Referral Hospital ambulance team for transporting the survivors from the airport to Merci Siwainao Clinic.
The medical team attending to the survivors includes Sister Ethel Harry, Sister Jennister, Dr Lois Siwainao and Dr Dennis Manioli.
Dr Haikau also thanked the Search and Rescue Unit, police and all personnel who continue to be involved in the search for the two people still missing.
The search operation remains ongoing.

The Solomon Islands Meteorological Service (SIMS) has issued Impact Based Warning Number 214 for strong winds, with an Orange Alert currently in force for all waters of Solomon Islands.
The warning was issued at 7:00am on Sunday, 20 September 2026, as strong southeasterly winds are expected to affect the country’s waters.
SIMS said a strong southeasterly wind flow is expected over the areas covered by the warning.
The current conditions are expected to bring moderate to rough seas and moderate swells, creating hazardous conditions for sea travelers.
The service warned that small boats are at risk of capsizing, particularly under the stronger wind and wave conditions.
Poor visibility is also expected in areas experiencing showers and thunderstorms, adding further risks for people travelling by sea.
Sea travelers are urged to take necessary safety precautions, as the strong winds could produce dangerous wave conditions hazardous to small boats.
Members of the public are also advised to remain informed and prepared and to follow updates issued by SIMS, SIBC and other media outlets.
SIMS has advised people in affected areas to take appropriate safety measures and avoid unnecessary risks at sea.
The next Impact Based Warning is scheduled to be issued morning tomorrow.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) says the sinking of a police speedboat near the western border is a learning experience that highlights the need to strengthen safety measures and technical support for officers operating in the area.
The police vessel, Striker, sank while returning from Choiseul to Lofung in the Shortland Islands after encountering mechanical problems, strong winds and rough seas.
The vessel was reportedly on a patrol mission along the western border when both engines failed while travelling between Uhu and Ilina Island.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, National Operations, Lional Kapisa, said the officers on board tried to remove water entering the vessel but were unable to stop it from filling.
He said strong winds and high swells contributed to the incident, with seawater washing into the vessel from the rear before it eventually sank.
Despite the incident, all officers on board were safely rescued with assistance from people from Samanago in the Shortland Islands and the police team deployed at the Lofung patrol boat outpost.
According to RSIPF media, the vessel was later picked up by villagers at Nikumu in South Bougainville on September 18.
AC Kapisa said the incident had highlighted safety challenges associated with police operations along the western border.
“This incident is a learning experience for us to consider a few challenges on safety and dedicated experts to be stationed at the western border post to mitigate such challenges,” he said.
He said police were now working with relevant authorities to ensure the safe handover of the vessel to police authorities at the western border.
The incident has prompted police to consider additional safety measures and technical expertise for personnel operating in the remote border area.
AC Kapisa said the safe rescue of all officers remained the priority, while arrangements continued concerning the vessel and its eventual recovery or handover.

SOLOMON PORTS has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting rugby development in Solomon Islands following three days of National Rugby 7s competition at Town Ground Rugby Stadium.
Speaking at the tournament’s prize presentation, a Solomon Ports representative said the company was proud to remain the major sponsor of the event and viewed its partnership with the Solomon Islands Rugby Union Federation as part of its wider community contribution.
“Solomon Ports is very proud to be the major sponsor for this event,” the representative said.
“As one of the largest state-owned enterprises in the Solomon Islands, we are happy to support SIRUF in the development of rugby as one of the main sports in the country.”
The representative said Solomon Ports had supported rugby for a long time and looked forward to continuing the partnership.
He also thanked the teams, players and supporters whose participation and presence contributed to the tournament’s atmosphere.
“You have made this tournament a success, very enjoyable, and the support was really good,” he said.
The sponsor also acknowledged overseas players and guests who accepted invitations to participate and share their experience with local players.
The representative said Solomon Ports’ support formed part of its corporate social responsibility focus on youth development, community engagement and the growth of sport in Solomon Islands.
SIRUF vice-president of development Moses Tepai also thanked the tournament’s sponsors, officials, volunteers, coaches, trainers, referees, players and supporters during the closing programme.
“It’s been three long, hard days,” Tepai said, while describing the tournament as another successful event but noting there was still room for improvement.
He urged sponsors to continue supporting rugby and said the tournament also served an important national-team purpose.
According to Tepai, the women’s competition was used to help identify players for the Solomon Islands side that will travel to New Zealand next month for the Oceania Sevens, with the names expected to be announced next week.
The three-day competition brought together school and senior teams in a combined National 7s championship, concluding with prize presentations for the participating categories.

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development, (MID), is now preparing to redevelop and improve the former Public Works Department (PWD), compound in Kirakira, Makira-Ulawa Province which is now in a deteriorating state.
The plan to redevelop the area follows on from a visit by a Makira-Ulawa Provincial delegation to MID last month in Honiara.
A post from the province’s social media said that to progress the initiative, an engineer from MID Engineer visited Kirakira to analyze the condition of the old PWD site with the aim of having it resurrected with staff houses while discussions to have the Eastern Region Machine Fleet to be based in Kirakira, Makira.
That will allow rehabilitation of our current roads and construction of new roads.
It said with the redevelopment of the PWD area and staffed will greatly improve the province’s economy and connectivity to its people.
Discussions were also about the tar sealing of the road between the Kirakira Township to Ngorangora Airport.

Six Staff from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources (MFMR), have successfully completed a three week-long capacity-building training program in Busan, South Korea.
A statement from the Ministry said the training brought together fisheries officials from the Indo-Pacific and Africa to strengthen knowledge, skills, and cooperation in fisheries observer programs and sustainable fisheries management.
Speaking on behalf of the Solomon Islands delegation, Ms Jan Oli Pitu described the training as a highly successful and valuable experience, providing participants with opportunities to learn, share experiences, build networks, and strengthen their technical capacity.
The statement said a major highlight was the development and presentation of National Fisheries Observer Action Plans of which Solomon Islands delegation was awarded Best Action Plan following presentations and assessment by professors from Pukyong National University.
It said the achievement reflects the strong teamwork, commitment, and capability of Solomon Islands fisheries professionals.The team now returns home with new knowledge, stronger partnerships, and an action plan to further support Solomon Islands’ fisheries observer program.

The Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI) in collaboration with Tebbutt Research and Solomon Islands National Statistics Office (SINSO) will soon conduct the second National Financial Services Demand Side Survey (FS-DSS) from September to October 2026, including the Makira-Ulawa Province.
The survey is supported by the Asian Development Bank and will cover a nationally representative sample of approximately 992 adults, randomly selected from households across Solomon Islands, including rural, urban and maritime areas.
Provincial Secretary of the Makira Ulawa Provincial Government (MUPG), Chris Waiwori said 21 villages in four wards have been identified for the Survey namely Arosi West, West Bauro, West Wainoni and Star Harbour South.
Mr Waiwori said that the main purpose of the survey is to assist the central bank, government and key stakeholders to gain a better understanding of the needs, preferences and behaviors of all Solomon Islanders regarding the financial services and products.
The survey will also provide insights to evaluate the progress of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy 3 implemented by CBSI from 2021-2025.
In addition, the results of the survey will provide evidence base for policy development, help identify gaps in the provision of financial services and products, inform responses to emerging trends, and support the development of more tailored and appropriate financial products and services.
Mr Waiwori, on behalf of MUPG has conveyed its appreciation to the CBSI, Tebbutt Research and SINSO for the planned survey because it will not only provide the opportunity for the communities to have access to useful financial services and products information but most importantly will create visibility not only for the communities but also the Province in terms of providing a sense of how the Province stands in its financial literacy and consumer empowerment knowledge which will in turn help policy makers create better regulation for financial inclusiveness.

The Solomon Islands National University (SINU) has expressed profound sadness over the passing of Sir Nathaniel Rahumaea Waena, a former Governor-General, Member of Parliament, senior statesman and one of the founding leaders of the national university.
In a tribute issued by SINU Vice-Chancellor Professor Transform Aqorau, the university extended condolences to Lady Waena, Sir Nathaniel’s children and family, the people of Ulawa and Ugi, and all Solomon Islanders who were touched by his leadership and service.
Professor Aqorau said Sir Nathaniel dedicated much of his life to serving Solomon Islands and held several important national leadership positions with dignity and distinction.
For SINU, however, his passing carries particular significance because of his role in the establishment and early development of the national university.
Professor Aqorau said Sir Nathaniel was among the courageous leaders who helped make the establishment of a national university possible at a time when there were many uncertainties and no well-established path to follow.
He said establishing a national university was a bold undertaking that required leaders with the vision to look beyond immediate challenges and create greater opportunities for young Solomon Islanders to learn, conduct research and contribute to national development.
As the first Chair and Pro-Chancellor of SINU, Sir Nathaniel helped provide leadership during the university’s formative years.
Professor Aqorau said the decisions made during those early years required patience, wisdom, resolve and faith in the future.
He noted that the university’s students, graduates, lecturers and researchers today form part of the living legacy of the vision held by Sir Nathaniel and other pioneers of the institution.
“Building may bear the name of an institution, but a university is ultimately built upon the courage, conviction and sacrifices of people,” Professor Aqorau said.
He described Sir Nathaniel as one of those people whose contribution has been permanently woven into the history and identity of SINU.
His passing, Professor Aqorau said, leaves an immense void, with the country losing a respected statesman, founding leader and wise elder.
SINU said the most fitting tribute to Sir Nathaniel would be to continue the work he helped begin by building a national university that serves all Solomon Islanders, expanding opportunities for young people and ensuring education remains a force for national unity, development and hope.
Professor Aqorau said Sir Nathaniel had helped plant a seed whose roots now extend throughout Solomon Islands, with generations of students and graduates continuing to benefit from the institution he helped establish.
“Solomon Islands National University will forever remember and honour Sir Nathaniel Rahumaea Waena as one of its founding fathers,” the tribute stated.
The university extended its condolences to Sir Nathaniel’s family and prayed that they would find comfort in knowing that his service transformed many lives and that his legacy would endure for generations.
“Rest in eternal peace, Sir Nathaniel.”
U18 champions credit preparation, discipline and family support

WHITE RIVER High School capped its Solomon Ports National Rugby 7s campaign with a convincing 34–7 victory over St John High School to claim the U18 boys’ championship at Town Ground Rugby Stadium on Friday.
The young White River side produced a strong performance in the grand final after several days of competition, with captain Ginia Tengemoana pointing to preparation and hard work as key factors behind the result.
“The biggest difference was our preparation over the past weeks. We trained full-time, including morning sessions,” Tengemoana said.
The captain said the team approached the final with a clear message to leave previous matches behind and focus entirely on the championship decider.

“I want to thank all the supporters and families who came today. Being on the sidelines gave us the strength to play hard today,” he said.
He dedicated the achievement to the team, families and school while also calling on the players to remain disciplined beyond the tournament.

White River’s success was not limited to the boys, with its U18 girls also crowned champions after overcoming Woodford International School in their grand final. The double championship capped a highly successful National 7s campaign for the school.

Solomon Water has issued a public warning to residents living around the New Titinge Reservoir and surrounding communities not to drink or use water being discharged from the new reservoir.
Solomon Water said its contractor, Pacific Engineering Projects (PEP), has commenced discharging water from the new Titinge Reservoir through the washout pipe outfall as part of essential works.
The water being discharged is not safe for human consumption or domestic use, Solomon Water warned.
According to the utility, the discharged water contains a high concentration of sodium hypochlorite (chlorine), which may be harmful to human health.
Residents in the affected communities have been strongly advised not to drink or use the discharged water for cooking, washing food, bathing or any other domestic purpose.
Parents and guardians have also been urged to ensure that children do not play in or near the washout area.
Solomon Water said the washout process will commence on Monday, 21 September 2026, and is expected to continue for approximately five days, or until the chlorine concentration has reduced to a safe and acceptable level.
Residents are advised to avoid the affected washout location throughout the process and to follow all safety instructions issued by Solomon Water.
Solomon Water said it will issue a further public notice once the washout process is complete and the discharged water is no longer considered a risk.
Solomon Water thanked residents for their patience, understanding and cooperation while the essential works are carried out to support a safe and reliable water supply.

– Fiji surrender three-goal lead as Solomon Islands stage dramatic comeback

The Bula Boys appeared to be cruising towards victory after establishing a 3-1 lead over Solomon Islands at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Friday night.
But a second-half tactical switch, a red card and relentless late pressure turned the contest on its head as the visitors fought back to secure a 3-3 draw in their opening match of the 2026 MSG Cup.
Coach Ben Cahn described the match as frustrating but said he was pleased to come away with a point.
However, the coach admitted he was disappointed with the way his side conceded the goals and stressed the importance of returning stronger in their next match.
“Our attacking play was good, but we didn’t have that final finishing touch. We just need to keep working, tighten up and look at the game tactically as we prepare for the next game. We’ve got work to do, although we were in the game right until the last minute,” Cahn said after the match.
With a good understanding of the Bula Boys from the inaugural Pro League season, Cahn said Fiji had shown plenty of character and a strong commitment to representing their country.
“Fiji was excellent in the match despite a fair share of chances,” he said.
Fiji captain Roy Krishna broke the deadlock in the 26th minute, giving the hosts the early advantage.
Solomon Islands responded four minutes before half-time when Rooney Riugaemai converted from the penalty spot to level the score 1-1.
Fiji, however, struck almost immediately, just minute after the equaliser.
Youngster Maikah Dau found the back of the net to restore the hosts’ lead and send Fiji into the break 2-1 ahead.
The Bula Boys continued to dictate the contest after the restart and stretched their advantage in the 54th minute. Thomas Dunn launched a long-range strike that beat the Solomon Islands defence and goalkeeper to put Fiji 3-1 up.
At that stage, victory appeared firmly within Fiji’s grasp.
Cahn responded with a tactical reshuffle, making changes in both the forward line and midfield as he looked to inject greater attacking threat into his side.
One of the key changes saw midfielder Atkin Kaua replaced by young national Under-19 captain Jayrol Patty.
The adjustment gave more attacking force and helped shift the momentum of the contest.
Fiji’s position became even more risky when Tevita Waranaivalu was shown a straight red card by referee David Yereboinen, reducing the hosts to 10 men.
Solomon Islands capitalised on the numerical advantage and continued to turn the screw.
Patty became central to the comeback, pulling a goal back in the 81st minute with a composed left-footed strike from outside the box to reduce the deficit to 3-2.
The visitors sensed an opportunity and continued to press as the clock ticked towards full-time.
With seven minutes of additional time signalled, Solomon Islands committed numbers forward, increasing the tempo and making their attacks increasingly direct.
Fiji’s defence was stretched as wave after wave of pressure tested the hosts inside their own penalty area.
Then, in the dying seconds, Solomon Islands found the breakthrough.
Captain Javin Wae rose highest to head home in the 99th minute, completing a remarkable comeback and rescuing a point for his side.
The result leaves both sides with a point from an entertaining Day 1 of men’s competition in the 2026 MSG Cup.
Meanwhile, Solomon Islands will face New Caledonia tomorrow at 4:00PM.

The six people reportedly left Foxwood by boat at around 10am on Friday. Relatives became concerned after losing contact with them when they failed to arrive at their expected destination.
A relative, Dr Jack Haikau Horiai Siwanao, said in an update posted this morning that four of the six people have been found alive at Toa and Vuturua villages in South Gella, Central Islands Province.
“Update: Four people found alive at Toa and Vuturua villages, South Gela,” the post stated.
Auki Police said they were alerted to the incident yesterday but were unable to conduct an extensive search because they did not have access to a larger boat or speedboats, while sea conditions remained rough.
Malaita Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent Michael Ramosaea, said authorities would continue the search once the sea conditions improve.
Dr Jack Haikau Horiai Siwanao has also urged people living along the coastline to remain alert and report any suspicious or unusual sightings that could assist in locating the two missing passengers.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration has reaffirmed the Government’s ambitious target of creating 25,000 jobs over the next four years to address the country’s growing employment challenges.
Speaking at the closing of the National Trade Fair this week, Permanent Secretary for Commerce Riley Mesepitu cited findings from the latest World Bank Solomon Islands Economic Update, which showed that labour force participation declined from 62.9 percent in 2009 to 60.9 percent in 2019.
Mr. Mesepitu said the report also highlighted lower labour force participation among women, at 57.2 percent, compared with 64.4 percent for men. He added that youth unemployment among those aged 15 to 24 remains particularly high at 14.5 percent.
He said around 9,000 young people enter the labour market each year, but only about 2,100 formal jobs are created.

Mr. Mesepitu said the Government is pursuing reforms aimed at generating employment opportunities across both the formal and informal sectors.
Of the 25,000 jobs targeted, 10,000 are expected to come from the formal sector, while the remaining 15,000 will be created through informal employment, self-employment and other livelihood opportunities.
The targeted sectors include:
Agriculture and food production – 5,000 jobs
Fisheries and aquaculture – 3,000 jobs
Tourism and hospitality – 2,500 jobs
Agro-processing and manufacturing – 3,000 jobs
Forestry and downstream processing – 1,500 jobs
Cocoa, coconut, kava, seaweed and other export commodities – 2,500 jobs
Transport, logistics and distribution – 2,000 jobs
Digital business and services – 1,500 jobs
Construction, maintenance and business services – 2,000 jobs
Mining-related activities and local MSME supply chains – 2,000 jobs
Mr. Mesepitu acknowledged that the target is ambitious but stressed that the Government remains committed to delivering on its plan.
The 25,000-job target was first announced by Minister for Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration, Hon. Harry Kuma, during the National Business Forum in Honiara recently.
Minister Kuma said jobs are the foundation of national peace, economic security and identity, particularly for Solomon Islands’ rapidly growing youth population.
He also said the Government is committed to improving the country’s investment climate, noting that Solomon Islands ranks 136th out of 190 economies on the Ease of Doing Business Index, with a score of 55 out of 100.

Former England Rugby international, Ben Gollings, was in Honiara last week, as a guest of the Solomon Islands Rugby Union Federation.
He was meeting and coaching teams involved in the Solomon Ports National Sevens Rugby Championship.
Gollings hopes it’s the start of a strengthened partnership between the UK and Solomon Islands on Rugby Union.
British High Commissioner, Paul Turner hosted Gollings at his Residence on Thursday where they discussed plans for increasing Rugby links between Solomon Islands and the UK.
Gollings was focused on building up youth Rugby Sevens in the country and was keen to look for opportunities to send Solomon Islands players to Melrose in Scotland.
Melrose is the home of Rugby Sevens, founded 140 years ago, and from where it has grown to become a global sport.
High Commissioner Turner said Rugby Sevens was well suited for Solomons given the ease with which the game can be organised and its accessibility. The High Commissioner said he hoped Sevens would take off the same way it has in Fiji.
Gollings was the national coach for the Fiji Rugby Sevens Team when they won the World Cup in 2022.
As a player, Gollings played both Rugby Union 15s and Rugby Sevens. He was England’s top scorer in Rugby Sevens, scoring over 2,600 points, in a distinguished international and club career. He retired in 2011.

As Governor-General, Sir Nathaniel served in one of the highest constitutional offices of the country with dignity and distinction.
His contribution to public life and his years of service to the people of Solomon Islands will remain an important part of our national history.
Prime Minister Wale said the nation has lost a respected son and servant whose life was dedicated to serving the country.
“On behalf of the GREAT Coalition and the people of Solomon Islands, I extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the late Sir Nathaniel Waena. We mourn the passing of a national leader who devoted many years of his life to serving our people and our country,” the Prime Minister said.
“His service as a Member of Parliament and as Governor-General will be remembered with respect and gratitude. The late Sir Nathaniel was also a distinguished permanent secretary and held various other roles in the civil service. At this time of sorrow, our thoughts and prayers are with his family, relatives, friends and all those who mourn his passing.”
The Prime Minister acknowledged Sir Nathaniel’s contribution to Solomon Islands and expressed appreciation for his years of dedicated public service.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

The Solomon Islands Maritime Authority (SIMA) has taken another step towards strengthening the country’s maritime sector through an internal workshop to advance Phase Two of the Ocean Accounts Initiative.
The workshop was held yesterday and built on the foundation established through the successful completion of Phase One.
According to SIMA, the session was facilitated by representatives from the Global Ocean Accounts Partnership (GOAP) and the University of New South Wales (UNSW), who provided technical guidance and expertise on the next phase of the initiative.
The workshop provided SIMA officers with a refresher on the Ocean Accounts framework and explored how different departments within the Authority can contribute to the development of Phase Two.
SIMA also acknowledged maritime stakeholders who took part in one-on-one consultations earlier in the week, saying their views and experiences will help inform the development and implementation of the next phase.
SIMA officers participated in group discussions, practical activities, presentations and question-and-answer sessions.
This provided an opportunity for officers from different departments to share knowledge, discuss priorities and contribute ideas towards strengthening Phase Two.
One of the key areas under Phase Two is the development of a Maritime Connectivity and Accessibility Account. This will examine how shipping services connect communities to markets, schools and health services, with particular attention to women, youth and underserved island communities.
Another priority is climate action through the establishment of a Greenhouse Gas Emissions Account, aligned with international maritime fuel-monitoring initiatives. This is expected to support cleaner shipping and future efforts to reduce emissions.
The initiative will also examine economic opportunities through corridor and value-chain analysis in areas such as copra, cocoa, fisheries and tourism, particularly through improved provincial shipping services.
Phase Two will further focus on strengthening SIMA’s capacity to independently manage and update Ocean Accounts and improve national maritime data systems.
It will also advance a Maritime Investment and Coordination Platform to help engage development partners in areas including fleet renewal and community vessel investments.
Ocean Accounts is more than a data initiative. It is intended to provide a better understanding of how the ocean and maritime sector contribute to communities, livelihoods and economic development.
Through stronger collaboration between SIMA and its partners, Phase Two aims to support evidence-based decision-making and contribute to a more connected, sustainable and resilient maritime sector in Solomon Islands.
